In order to be able to carry out the above-mentioned policy well, Zeeuwse Visveilingen BV attaches a lot of importance to ecological research. The time when in the Netherlands a person just randomly hauled in from the sea whatever came in his nets, fortunately lies far behind us. Acting responsibly towards natural sources of food and energy and towards the natural environment has also registered thoroughly with the fisheries - just as with other sectors in the Netherlands.
Perhaps this applies very precisely to the fishing industry: whoever is so dependent on the sea develops from generation to generation a strong understanding of environmental management and a deep respect for the water and all that lives in it, grows and blossoms.
